About frickin' time, CCP! have you actually tried playing it on the playstation? It's not going to fare any better on the PC. Dust is rubbish. Nowhere near EVE standards. This would be why they are rebuilding it from scratch, only using the stuff from DUST that actually worked, rather than simply porting DUST 514 to PC.
CCP is a company that develops based on trial and error, and given the amount of error in the development of DUST 514 on the PS3, it is likely they learned a few things. All the stuff that in hindsight they would have done differently, they will now have a chance to do differently.
I am personally a little disappointed as after 16 months of playing DUST 514 I was finally starting to get the hang of that cluncky consul controller, and given that I play EVE on a Mac currently, this means I will probably have to buy a Gaming computer (and a computer that will run Legion and EVE at the same time on different monitors is not going to be cheap!), but as far as what is best for the game, and what will allow them to finally achieve the original vision behind DUST, this was probably the right move. |

So is Dust being killed and Legion is replacing it? Legion is not even close to Closed Beta yet. By the time it is released the PS3 will be very very old. DUST 514 on PlayStation will die due to the platform dying, hopefully around the time Legion is ready for release.
I feel like I am standing on the deck of the Titanic watching the Queen Merry II coming over the horizon, and hoping it gets close before I am left swimming. For now I will try to enjoy the music as the band plays on... |

CCP has now spent our sub money on two games that they've now cancelled. It might be time that CCP sit down and give us a better explanation (either at EVE Keynote, or CCP Presents) on why they've wasted our money in this way and why we should trust them with Legion. If this is going to be "What we should have done in the first place with Dust", then we want to know why you ****** up, where you ****** up and why what you're doing now is different and isn't going to be a waste of money.
At least I think all of us (even the dust bunnies) deserve that. You actually have to sell us on Legion since we're the ones who are (and will) spend money on it. What makes you think it is your money they are spending on DUST? Think about it:
- EVE exists in China on a separate server. There are so many people on that server that they recently had a battle bigger than the biggest battle ever on tranquillity.
- DUST development is based in China.
Do you see a correlation? I expect that China would tax CCP heavily if they tried to take the money they earned in China and spend it in Iceland, so instead they open a development office in China and spend the money earned from Chinees EVE players on DUST development based in China.
Stop thinking of DUST as a waist of your money. It is clearly a money laundering operation for dealing with revenue generated in China. |

So is Dust being killed and Legion is replacing it? EVE is a great tactical game, but sometimes I like to exercise twitch muscle reactions and do my own aiming. That is why the tree games will jell so well together. They are three very different ways of experiencing the same universe.
